People interested in becoming a volunteer with Blue Mountain Hospice can learn more on two upcoming dates: at noon Tuesday, Oct. 12, and 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25. The question-and-answer sessions will be held in the Blue Mountain Hospital conference room. Hospice volunteers can have an impact on the community and make a difference in the lives of others. The John Day Farmers Market has several changes planned for the last market of the season. Fees will be waived for a booth space, and people are encouraged to call ahead or come early that day for a space. Tables, chairs and shade will also be provided for those with just small amounts of produce to sell, but who don’t need an entire table or booth. Donations of produce will also be accepted. Trowbridge Pavilion at the Grant County Fairgrounds

Admission is $3 for all three days. Event includes exhibits of newly made quilts, fine arts, and antique quilts, made before 1950; workshops; and demonstrations on Saturday. An “ask a quilter” help desk, voting for people’s choice award, and quilting and sewing vendors, as well as meals, snacks and Sunday brunch offered by Cliff House Catering. Admission is $3 for all three days. Featured artist is Patricia Ross. Quilts and art will be accepted at the pavilion from 7 a.m.- 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 30.
