Gale Database

Gale is a vendor that offers access to subscription periodicals databases.  The cost is paid for through an LSTA grant.  In general, the databases house thousands of articles, images, and multimedia clips (podcasts, video clips, etc.) from encyclopedias, magazines, journals, newspapers, and e-books.

Our statewide package includes access to 18 databases, some of which are broken out into smaller collections.  To preview them, click on PowerSearch from any Find Information page on OSLIS.  (For example… http://secondary.oslis.org/find-information

The workshop will highlight the databases most beneficial for K-12 and teach people how to use the various interfaces and the corresponding features (listening to articles, saving articles, translating, Infomarks = permanent links to articles and searches, title lists, etc.).
